In the small city of Cransac a short time ago there were the mines. Just yesterday, in the town where the working-class culture and the rural culture were mixed, the Coal determined the pace of life. The film introduces us into the lives of two families, one of  farmers and the other of workers. Grandparents tell of the old Cransac and they remember the rapid development of the world around them. For young people there is much to build. Some have plans to reactivate the family farm, others refuse to follow in the footsteps of parents and they dream only of leaving. Through the memories and the projects of each, is told a story in search of an identity.
